New Grade for Fall 2024 is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety.

Victorville, Ca, November 20, 2024 – Desert Valley Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

This achievement indicates the 11th ‘A’ award that Desert Valley Hospital has received since 2018. Desert Valley Hospital is the only hospital in the High Desert to receive this recognition for multiple years.

“This prestigious award stands as a shining testament to the unwavering commitment to excellence and the exceptional patient care that our dedicated team at Desert Valley Hospital provides every single day,” said Dr. Imran Siddiqui, CMO of Desert Valley Hospital. “I am profoundly grateful to our remarkable staff and physicians for their relentless dedication to delivering compassionate and safe care. Together, we continuously strive to find the best ways to meet the health needs of our community, ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of service and support.”

Over the last year, 85 percent of Prime hospitals earned “A” ratings from The Leapfrog Group.

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Desert Valley Hospital,” said Leah Binder, President, and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Desert Valley Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”

Desert Valley Hospital has received numerous awards and recognitions, including being named one of the nation’s “100 Top Hospitals” by Merative since 2005 and recognized as a “Great Community Hospital” by Beckers Healthcare in 2023.

Desert Valley Hospital maintains its A rating by implementing rigorous measures across all aspects of patient care. Infection prevention protocols are followed diligently, and initiatives aimed at preventing patient falls are prioritized, both of which are essential for enhancing overall safety hygiene. Additionally, strict cleanliness standards are upheld to create a safe and welcoming environment for patients. This comprehensive dedication to quality and safety not only improves patient care but also strengthens community trust in the hospital’s services.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
