Outpatient Services
Desert Valley Medical Group offers Outpatient Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy Services to patients in the High Desert communities. The outpatient department operates just a few blocks from Desert Valley Hospital. The department houses a fully equipped gym, hydrotherapy room, wound care room, hand therapy room and several semi-private treatment rooms. The facility also houses the state-of-the-art computerized Functional Capacity Evaluation machine that is used to evaluate functional performance as part of pre-employment procedures. The DVMG Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Department operates Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The facility is closed on weekends and major holidays.

Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy is provided to pediatric, adult and geriatric patients with various medical and surgical conditions, most often due to orthopedic diagnoses. Most commonly seen patients present with the following diagnoses:

• Neck and Back pain
• Muscle strain and sprain
• Knee, shoulder and ankle pain
• Post surgical conditions like knee and hip replacements, shoulder surgery, knee surgeries, neck and back surgeries, etc.
• Neurological conditions such as Stroke, Bell's Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, etc.
• Burns and amputations

Physical Therapy also provides comprehensive wound care management for patients who suffer from trauma induced wounds and chronic, non-healing wounds caused by medical conditions, most commonly by Diabetes. Physical Therapists who practice wound management in this facility are wound care specialists who have had several years of hands-on training, utilizing techniques, modalities, products, dressings and supplies appropriate for specific wounds.

Physical Therapy offers services to employers and employees in the community. Functional Capacity Testing using state-of-the-art equipment is offered to employers who want to screen prospective employees as part of the pre-employment procedures. Functional Capacity Testing will provide employers with objective data that will aid in proper selection of candidates based on physical performance. DVMG outpatient Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy also provide work re-training and work-hardening programs for injured workers to ensure rapid recovery and return to regular duty.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy is skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve improved strength, mobility and independence. Depending on diagnoses, customized treatment programs are aimed at improving patients' abilities to carry out activities of daily living. Occupational Therapy also evaluates home and job environments and recommends necessary adaptation. Occupational Therapy evaluates the need for use of adaptive equipment and device and provides training for proper use. Most commonly seen patients include those with the following diagnoses:

• Shoulder, arm, wrist and hand pain
• Muscle strain and sprain in the upper body
• Stroke and other neurological conditions
• Post surgical conditions, such as shoulder replacements, Carpal Tunnel Release, Tendon repairs, etc.
• Common orthopedic diagnoses such as tendonitis, bursitis and arthritis, usually in the upper extremities
• Work related injuries such as repetitive motion injuries in the shoulder, elbow, wrists and fingers

Speech Therapy
Speech Therapy provides comprehensive assessment and treatment of patients with speech, cognition and swallowing
deficits caused by medical and surgical conditions, commonly due to neurological involvement. Speech Therapy is provided to all pediatric, adult and geriatric patients with appropriate diagnoses. Most commonly seen patients include those with the following diagnoses:

• Children with birth defects, such as Cerebral Palsy, causing developmental delay
• Stroke
• Post surgical and various medical conditions that affect speech and swallowing Neurological conditions that affect speech and cognition such as Brain Injury
  
  

Imaging Services
Desert Valley Medical Group offers a full range of outpatient imaging services including Mammography, X-ray, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy and Bone Densometry. Most services are provided under one roof, taking away the hassle of moving from place to place for your testing.
